Haute is not only couture, but also joaillerie. A striking representative of high jewelry craftsmanship is the Signature de Chanel collection, presented this year by the Chanel house.
Gabrielle Chanel was the first of fashion designers to do jewelry. In 1932, her collection Bijoux de Diamants erased the boundaries between fashion and jewelry, showing how these worlds are close in reality. Since then, the jewelry collections of the famous fashion house continue to amaze the imagination.
The new Signature de Chanel collection includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and jewelry watches made of white gold, with white diamonds and classic blue sapphires.
The geometry of the collection repeats the historic "quilted" matelasse technique, which can be seen, for example, on the iconic bag "2.55". Famous rhombuses are used for rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets in a variety of techniques, demonstrating the full force of the possibilities of Chanel jewelry workshops.
In the center of the main necklace of the collection is a diamond worth 2 million euros. Of course, these jewelry are not for everyday wear. This is an art worthy of a museum. But, like high fashion "haute couture" art, Chanel jewelry mastery is worth exploring, admiring and imitating.
