For a lace dress consisting only of a shelf and a back, it is easier and more convenient to cut a silk lining from the already cut out details of the dress, i.e., without using a paper pattern.

Silk fabrics are quite complex in cutting, glide on the surface, as a result of which the contours of the pattern can be shifted. In order to avoid this and to make working with silk as easy as possible, and in our case with cutting silk linings, we will not use a paper pattern.

Step 1

Align the bottom of the silk fabric from which you will cut the lining. How to do this, read in our master class:

How to cut fabric evenly

Step 2

Unscrew the hem allowance on the wrong side to a width of 7 mm and iron. Then unscrew again and iron again. Schedule an allowance and scribble.

Step 3

Fold the silk fabric with the hem done on a flat surface. On top of the silk, lay the detail of the dress shelf cut out of lace fabric.

Step 4

Place the shelf on silk so that the festoons on the bottom of the part protrude beyond the hem. And take it.

Step 5

Then place a shelf on the lining silk around the entire perimeter of the part.

Step 6

Cut out the lining of the shelf with allowances along the side and shoulder sections of 1.5 cm.

Step 7

Cut out the backing for the back part in the same way.

Important!

Silk lining allowances at the side and shoulder seams protrude 1.5 cm from the allowances of the shelf and back of the dress!

After sewing the details of the dress, cuts of the side and shoulder seams from the lace fabric are treated with silk lining allowances.

How to properly perform such processing of slices of a lace fabric, read in our master classes:
